Giving the Gift of Wine-on-One Time with Girlfriends

San Sebastian Winery, St. Augustine, FL (2017), Sponsored by San Sebastian Winery

Proverbs 27:17: As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.

The gift of an experience far outweighs a tangible gift. This Christmas season, I gathered four girlfriends (none of which who knew each other super well) for a day visit to San Sebastian Winery in St. Augustine, FL.

Did you know that everyone receives a complimentary wine tasting? You can try several of San Sebastian’s white and red wines on their self-guided wine tours, which are *free* to the public. All of their wines are absolutely delish, but our favorites were their Cabernet Sauvignon, their Vintner’s Red and their Blanc De Fleur (champange).

Cheers to kicking off the holiday season with girlfriends!

But today, we decided to stay after our tour to experience their wine, jazz & blues bar: The Cellar Upstairs.

With an impressive menu of appetizers, lite bites and full glasses of some of our favorite San Sebastian wines (try the seasonal Mulled Wine!), The Cellar Upstairs did not disappoint! With impressive views of St. Augustine, we had a wonderful, intimate spot to chat, relax and learn more about each other.

Our favorites on their menu were their delicious Fresh Baked Brie, their Pretzels and Beercheese and Boars Head Bistro Meat & Cheese Platter. It was a spread of the perfect lite bites to enjoy {besides each other’s company}!

Their staff was superb! We had their constant attention, they were well-educated on all wine offerings and their food recommendations were the perfect pair. Top notch service all around.

One of the sweetest parts of their tour wasn’t their famous Port wine. It was watching four of my closest friends enjoy each other’s company, too. It filled me with all sorts of holiday cheer watching these wonderfully and fearfully made ladies connect with each other.

This holiday season, I encourage everyone to invest into their girlfriends with a priceless gift: the experience of time together. I cannot think of a better Christmas gift that I could have given these four friends than spending a few hours getting to know them better at San Sebastian Winery.

God has blessed with me these friends. Ladies who love God, their husbands and families and who invest year-round in my little family. It seems like such a small gift to give in return to invite them out to an amazing local winery!

Put down your Christmas shopping list, store away the wrapping paper and ribbon and call your girlfriends. Let them know that you are thankful for them. And instead of searching for the perfect present for them, give the gift of quality time spent together at San Sebastian Winery.

Trek Difficulty Level: (0); only about twenty minutes from Nocatee, this winery is super convenient for all of Jacksonville; to focus on safety, we hired an Uber for a super cheap rate ($20 each way for 4 people)

Trek Budget: $20; since the tasting and tour is complimentary, this is a very inexpensive way for girlfriends to get together! Stay after the tour, grab a full glass of wine and some lite bites! You’ll likely spend less than you would on a tangible gift!

3 Trek Must-Dos:

  • Get their Cabernet Sauvignon! Although they offer two types of Cab, their locally made Cabernet is smooth and delicious.
  • Say yes to the Baked Brie! With a yummy raspberry sauce, we all were hooked.
  • Choose their rooftop bar, The Cellar; with amazing views and cool breezes, you’ll feel whisked away to a different land.
